Performance

The Kirra DC ceiling fan is engineered to provide sweeping airflow ideal for large spaces

Carefully designed and engineered to provide sweeping airflow ideal for large enclosed spaces, the Kirra DC ceiling fan moves huge volumes of air for highly efficient cooling and air circulation. The 100″ Kirra DC ceiling fan provides High Volume, Low Speed (HVLS) cooling ideal for large enclosed spaces. Thanks to the powerful internal motor, large blade sweep, aerodynamic blade design and effective blade pitch the Kirra moves up to four times the airflow of other ceiling fans.

HVLS: Is it right for me?

HVLS ceiling fans are engineered to move large volumes of air at a lower velocity – ideal for large spaces where keeping the air fresh and circulating is important. HVLS fans can significantly reduce cooling costs in spaces with air conditioning too. By mixing the layers of different air temperatures, your air conditioner can work more effectively even with the thermostat set a few degrees warmer.

Tropical Breeze

The fan is perfect for our outdoor deck. Suspended 4m above the deck the large diameter is effective in delivering gentle breeze when the sea breeze fails. The black and walnut finish makes it look like it was an original installation

Big Beautiful and Breezy

Have recently installed the Kirra black with walnut tinted 3 blade fan in our lounge. With high ceilings (3.75m) and large area (4.8 x 8.4 m) we required a high volume low speed fan and the Kirra fulfills the brief. Gentle to moderate breeze throughout the whole room is perfect for our needs. It is almost silent and is a visually stunning addition to our room. After sales support was excellent and I can highly recommend the fan

High volume is not so high

Nice looking fan but no where near the flow I thought I was buying, on fastest speed you could easily light a cigarette.
I must stop buying DC fans.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience, Garry -- hopefully your comments will help other customers make a more informed buying decision. We are closed for Christmas right now, but if you'd like to reach out in the New Year we can try to help as I appreciate the Kirra is an expensive product.

For anyone considering this fan, it is a High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) product, meaning it will move a lot of air but at a low velocity (speed). We do try and make this as clear as possible on our website and feature a “HVLS: Is it right for me?” section on every product listing under the Performance heading along with an explanation on our ceiling fan performance guide - below - to highlight the type of airflow you can expect from HVLS fans.

Based on Garry's comments, he most likely would have preferred a smaller high-velocity ceiling fan - AC or DC motor is irrelevant, as both types of motors have high/low volume and high/low-velocity cooling options.
